Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the purpose behind your art?
My goal is to create art that resonates deeply with the human spirit. I focus on creating original, custom pieces that reflect a personal connection, whether it’s a place, face, or pursuit that holds meaning for you. Every piece is designed to evoke an emotional or spiritual response, and I aim to ensure that my work brings joy, satisfaction, and enduring value to your life.

2. How do I know if the artwork is right for me?
I am happy to have a phone call or FaceTime in order to answer all your questions about any piece that you are interested in.

3. How does the process of commissioning a custom piece work?
When commissioning a custom piece, we’ll start by discussing your vision, including size, style, and inspiration. I’ll send you mockup images via email or text to ensure we’re aligned. Once you’ve reviewed and approved the design, I require a 50% downpayment to begin. You’ll receive updates when the piece is about 50% completed. If, at that point, you wish to proceed, the balance is due, and I will complete the artwork.

4. What if I don’t like the piece I ordered?
If you purchase a piece that has already been created and it doesn’t meet your expectations, you can return it within 20 calendar days for an 80% refund (return shipping at your expense). Please note that custom pieces are non-refundable due to their personalized nature.

5. How much does artwork cost?
Prices for artwork are set by piece and are non-negotiable. I strive to keep my prices fair and competitive while offering high-quality, original art. For custom pieces, pricing is based on size, complexity, and the time involved in creating the piece. All prices are listed in USD, and payment can be made via Venmo or PayPal.

6. Do you offer framing or stretching services?
I offer my pieces ready to hang, with sewn-in pockets for a rod or simple flat window trim, and sometimes a pocket at the bottom for a steel rod to keep the piece straight. If you prefer a more traditional look with framing or stretching, we can discuss this option before starting the artwork. You will need to handle the framing or stretching yourself.

7. How long does it take to receive my custom artwork?
Custom pieces typically take around 4-5 weeks to complete after we’ve agreed on the design details. If you're in a rush, it may be worth considering an already completed piece. Shipping time will vary, but I’ll provide you with a tracking number once your order has shipped.

8. What if I want to buy artwork as a gift?
If you're unsure of what the recipient would like, consider purchasing a gift card for art! This allows the recipient to choose something that resonates with them, ensuring their full satisfaction.

9. How does shipping work?
Shipping for artwork already created is included within the U.S. If you’re outside the U.S., additional shipping fees will apply. For custom artwork, shipping is also included for U.S. orders, but international delivery will incur extra costs, which will be discussed before shipping.

10. What if I’m an interior designer or working on a large project?
I would love to work with interior designers or firms on large-scale projects. Whether you're outfitting a hotel, hospital, or educational institution, I can create customized art that fits your specific environment and vision. Please reach out to discuss how we can collaborate!

11. What sets your art apart from other art providers?
I focus on creating artwork that is a true reflection of human spirit and energy. My process is highly personal, ensuring that every piece is imbued with meaning and emotion. Whether you’re choosing an existing piece or commissioning something custom, you’re not just purchasing art—you’re investing in a reflection of yourself and the world around you. Each piece is unique, timeless, and designed to evoke a deep emotional response.

12. What is the return policy for custom artwork?
Custom artwork is non-refundable. However, I provide clear communication throughout the process to ensure the piece meets your expectations. You’ll receive updates and photos before proceeding to the final stages of the project. If you decide not to continue at the 50% completion mark, you can cancel, but I will retain ownership of the artwork and return 75% of your downpayment.

13. Can I see the artwork before it’s finalized?
Absolutely! For custom pieces, I provide photos of the initial mockup and again at about 50% completion. This way, you can be involved and ensure that the work aligns with your vision before it’s completed. I’m here to answer any questions you have throughout the process.

14. How do I contact you?
Feel free to reach out to me via email at sheila@skm-art.com for any questions or inquiries. I’m happy to discuss your vision and help bring it to life!
